I kept building static sites — for clients, for side projects, for the friend who needed a landing page yesterday — and every single time the same friction came up: how do we collect the form submissions?
The options were always disappointing. Stand up a serverless function for one form. Wire up Formspree and watch the free tier dry up after three submissions. Or just put a mailto: link and accept that no one would actually use it.
So I built FormSubmit. One URL, any HTML form, pay-as-you-go credits. Edge-hosted so latency stays low and cost stays sane.
When AI agents started writing static sites for non-technical users, I realized FormSubmit had a second audience: agents need a form backend they can ship in a single shell command. So in May 2026 I shipped formsubmit-cli — and now the same backend serves both the founder clicking through a dashboard and the agent calling it as a tool.
